Rules Poem by Jerry Abrahamson

Rules

If there's one thing that I can't stand
It is a bunch of rules
Boundries that you can't cross
Like you're a bunch of little children

I know that rules have their place
In the world that we live in
But, rules also can mean power
Over the way you lead your life

And I am not a person
Who can live by a bunch of rules
Because every time they're enforced
I end up in the hospital

So, why can't we find
Some middle boundries someplace
Because we have to find
Some way to live together
