Run On Catchphrase Poem by James Meaney

Run On Catchphrase

Remember the Friday
we skipped school
you wanted to stay
but i persuaded you
so the both of us
took to the truck
you slipped up
and crashed down on me like syrup
we wound-up
making angels in the snow
talking about how and where
and why your favorite color is yellow
were such weirdos
that's what you say.
but your my Velcro
I want this forever, and ever always
because...
this season we puked it all
stayed up late
till the new snowfall
don't look back now
but it was those days
with sleet, snow, and freezing rain
that turned out to be our run on catch phrase.
