S.O.S. (Stuck On Salvation) Poem by Luke Easter

S.O.S. (Stuck On Salvation)

Rating: 5.0

Men’s day June 26,2011 keynote speaker, Brother Andrew Greene,
A usual he was under par for the course, razor sharp, strong and lean,
New Testament, Apostle Paul, the book of Philippians was his theme,
Yes, Salvation is the key however, still reach for the promised unseen.

Like going to a Chinese buffet, a myriad of items but you choose one,
It is extremely tasty, refreshing, very satisfying, that’s it, you are done?
Where God is still expanding the universe not one plant moon and sun,
Paul does not walk toward the higher calling, when you reach you run.

Tradition! It’s the killer of many a church that will not strive to achieve,
The blessed promises obtained by faith God has for those who believe,
30,40, way too many years you have lived on the same tired old block,
By not forgetting those things that are behind you’re reversing the clock.

Hey, if it was still about the past we would be putting computers to rest,
We’d have no Email or snail mail as letters would come, Pony Express,
The good news is, no $4.00 a gallon for petroleum but the price of hay,
The constant stench of horse manure just might keep parishioners away.

One thing will pack them in, the men’s choir and the event’s guest band,
Can a woman preach? Can a female lead with drum sticks in her hand?
Good Hope guys sing no matter what but today was especially unique,
The gospel-thumping ensemble was led by the incomparable Monique.

Reverend MacClinton said practice, practice, practice, is what it cost,
By the sound of his voice for Robert Deac Anderson it finally paid off,
And of course Howard & Michael Davis our own Righteous Brothers,
Deacons Gene Fuqua & Jerry Sattrerwhite along with all of the others.

Sure we have to go through trials and tribulations, read the book of Job,
By the way, who knows why Drew’s daughter Yvette, forgot his robe?
John 3: 16, “For God so loved the world” did He send His second best?
Then why are so many Christians wandering around in need of S.O.S.?
