Saccharine Love Poem by Jackie Chou

Saccharine Love

I want to lick you
with my sugar tongue-
sweeten the sour the world
has left you.
My words are caresses
of thick honey,
chocolate coating
your strawberry heart.
I'm no sugar-free
but the real thing.
I'm the whole candy bar
to satisfy your sweet tooth.
I'm syrup seeping
from ripe mangoes,
glaze over your stale bread
of a life.
