Sacrifice Poem by Joe Corbett

Sacrifice

Rating: 4.8

Whisper softly
to the sky
Darkness comes
we know not why
blackened sun
shows no light
Pay the price
with the sacred knife

blood crawls down
the temple stairs
to do nothing
no one dares
offer only
the pure at heart
bloodless body
torn apart

bloodless body
torn apart
cold and blackened
bloodless heart

the sacrificed has
has saved the light
brought it back from
blackened night

cold and darkened
souls takes flight
from bloodless body
comes day from night.
