Safe Place Poem by Temperance Joy

Safe Place

Staring out my window,
Safe here from the rain
Sitting on my bed.
Never safe from the pain.
Holding myself together
My arms, they wrap my waitst.
Wondering if it's worth it
Have my feelings gone to waste?
Hoping that it's worth it
Remember our first kiss?
Hoping you remember
Please do not forget this.
Wanting you to see
I am dying behind the smile.
Wanting you to know
This hasn't happened in a while.
Wishing you would call
Telling me how you care
Wondering when you will
Knowing you aren't there.
Scared that something is wrong.
Hoping you will tell me.
Wondering where you go to.
Wishing you could see me.
Running through the rain.
I'm crying but you don't know.
Screaming and confused.
I don't know where to go.
Knowing where I'll end up.
It happens without me knowing.
No matter what you will find me.
Cause you know where I'm going.
I know this cause you listen.
You may never see, but you know.
When I'm like this I am lost.
But the 'safe place' is where I go.
Sitting on the playground
Fighting to see through the tears.
Hanging on for dear life.
Facing all my deepest fears.
Deciding that I'm happy
Smiling through the pain.
Moving past the problems
I'll walk home in the rain.
