A wealthy man called Francis
Had chosen to stay poor
He shunned his affluence and went
into a hermit’s door
He tore the body’s lust raiment
And wore sack-cloth as gown
He gave away all things, He had
And left his happy town
We must live simple, humble
And pure in mind and heart
We must live thus for God’s sake
Allow the Spirit in
The Will of Father is our will
His mother is our mom
We are espoused to Jesus Christ
Poverty, let’s welcome
To obviate mankind’s sins
The Father sent His Son
To die upon the cross and bleed
And make satan to run
We must not rule o’er neighbors
Penance must be life’s choice
We must give alms for the needy
And make heaven rejoice
Forsake the world, let’s follow
Christ Lord to Calvary
Let’s share the cross’ burden
With help of Virgin Mary!
