Samarra Poem by Taher Shemaly

Samarra

Apologies, oh master of the goodness
I know my words are not enough though
my tear looks at thy home being homeless
yet the heart out of me is flying through

Oh Samarra where have you been
by the time forgotten by the low ground
if they know what you carry in heaven
on this humble earth won't there be a sound

Oh Samarra that injures the tearful pains
hear my words with a tear in this blinded eye
lamenting shall I be with the life that remains
like how Jacob for Joseph was blinded with a cry

Samarra why don't you answer the loud cries
deserted the beloved ones and slept eternally?
but No, by the love of Husain and our cries
on thy ground we will remain with loyality

Oh Samarra, take the vow out of my mouth
and dropp the words on every dropp of thy grain
east or west shall I be or north and even south
this heart for thy love will never stop to maintain

Oh Samarra, O Land of the beloved...
