what do you do
when the sky
around you
falls
when you can’t
make sense
of it all
when prayer
gets you nowhere
and the shadows
have moved in
lady of dark night
i’ve watched
the hell hounds
gushing Deep
from within
your vast spectacle

we tread
the candelit garden
like shameless sailors
through the dark nirvana
of sandy hook beach
we gazed as demons
suspended in red wine

poets and shamans
stay clear
of the telling tale
do not chase the muse
lest you leave
and never again
find
such sweet
subtle clearing
