Sartorial Poem by Onaiza Simeen

Sartorial

Saw you once in a blue shirt.
Adored your oceanic depths,
Wished to compliment: “Exquisite! ”

But restrained and retreated,
Preferred to be silent.

Saw you always in whites,
Desired to suggest:
“Why not light pastels too?
Pale pinks, yellows, blues,
Greens, creams, peaches, greys……….

But restrained and retreated,
Preferred to be silent.

Yearned to see you -
In T-shirts, blazers, safaris, ethnics………

But restrained and retreated,
Preferred to be silent.

Silent,
I told myself each time:
“Clients oughtn’t transgress their limits”.
