Saturday Night Poem by Larry Houston

Saturday Night

Rating: 5.0

Riding shotgun in the Le Mans
passing a bottle of bourbon
Lou Reed's ‘Sweet Jane'
on ‘Rock and Roll Animal'
comes from the speakers
ferocious and loud
it's a warm night, windows down
I'm sweating, unbutton my shirt
we head into town
play pool, drink shots of tequila, beer chasers
I wake in the car when we leave
out of cigarettes, down to three dollars
a headache beginning
another Saturday night
