School Prayer Poem by Ima Ryma

School Prayer

We used to say a prayer in school.
But then one day, it was not said.
Something 'bout a Supreme Court rule.
I even heard that God was dead.
I figured it was all about
The grown ups doing grown up stuff.
God was still ev'rywhere - no doubt,
Just grinning at the grown up guff.
And in all schools, God is right near,
Whether or not a prayer we say.
An unsaid prayer, God still does hear.
It matters not how loud we pray.

Not said, but thought, a prayer can be.
At school that's how God hears from me.
