Scorn Poem by Nicola Thoner

Scorn

Rating: 3.5

You think you hold me

Captive in your charm

You smother my voice

with loud exclamations of You

In all Your Beauty

You smother me.

And in your power trip

Of the misbelief you've gained something unattainable

And hid it from the world to share.

You've made me believe

You're all that's out there

All that I'm worthy of.

Never once told me I was beautiful

Never once asked me

My favourite song

Self centred immaturity.

You leave me with

a bitter taste in my mouth

and dark circles under my eyes.

With all the work placed upon me

To make you a man.

I am both teacher and student

Sister and lover

Mother and friend

Goddess and daughter

All purpose woman

Take me off the shelf

and add a cup to thicken your day.
