Seasons Poem by Parthaproteem Roy

Seasons

Quenched my wilted soul, deep inside a dearth;
Counted million drops, in my cloudy showers;
My eyes used to marvel, beholding that silent firth;
Like a white swan, splashing and sailing with her steering oars;
Now I wonder how you would be, in your part of earth.
Stuck by the fact and find my eyes drenched with tears.

With Her every austere arrival, air filled with mirth,
When older flew with the wind, newer deep in their slumbers,
Before Her solemn presence, always felt like a rebirth,
Waited for a single glimpse, watching those holy altars;
Once saw Her reflection in you, your claret gown looked so smart!
Born that picture in my heart, now lights up my dim corners;

Jingle Bells, tunes of carol and the aroma of homemade tart.
Shops and homes cleaned and trimmed, wearing glittering stars;
Looking the warming views out of my window, sitting apart…
And pulling the blanket, closing my eyes, lost into my prayers
Wished the next year would be special, vowed for a brand new start.
Stunned, those wishes still I do in my lonely winters.

View of misty morning field and the smoke of straw hearth,
Dressed in golden yellow mekhla, those pretty and gleeful dancers,
With the last flight of my kite, flew towards the beaming north.
Might have seen you and your friends, brightened up in your attires,
Thought of you still charm me within, towards you it moves like a dart
Surprised that every words we shared, are now colorful flowers.

Many seasons have passed by, still I bear the picture in my heart.
Those few moments of togetherness, of my tranquil summers;
Time like a scorching heat, had tried to burn and hurt.
Remember the sweetness of your smiles when I acted jesters,
Now I cherish them all, keeping you deep within inert.
Those hidden memoirs still I read, even after so many years.
