Seasons For Her Poem by Ima Ryma

Seasons For Her

Sometime in spring she meets her mate,
Together a while, then part ways.
She roams in solitary state
Until the end of summer days.
Instinct then tells her to seek out
A place where she'll be safe from harm,
And where, if new birth comes about,
Her young close to her will be warm.
Since in her den there won't be meals,
She needs to pack on weight and so
She eats a lot of extra seals,
Then goes into a bank of snow.

In late winter, Mom polar bear
Leaves her den with new young born there.
