Secret Of A Rose Poem by Martha Mason

Secret Of A Rose

Rating: 4.3

Oh, rose, what is your secret that made your petal fall?
Was it some secret thing, or did it happen not at all?
Is it tears that float around you, or is it make believe?
Your petal like a reason, a dream you can't conceive.
Oh, rose, are you hiding something, a love that's never been?
There is not the tarnish nor the joy on the flower or the stem,
But a lovely, lonely petal, like a precious kiss of dew,
Was it something that you put there, a treasure just for you?
If you painted, did a teardrop fall? Did you hide its lovely face?
Or the time you kissed a maiden, knowing in your heart it was too late,
Was it passion of that moment put the anger in its place,
Or was it something you could not share, or the bitterness erase?
Oh, rose, you are so fragile, did the petal lose its way?
Like a dream so soft red velvet, took a moment to be gay,
A lovely vision by itself, no reason or a sign,
Oh, rose, what is your secret? Will it too be lost in time?

This poem is resplendid...delicate and soft and touching and forlorn. You should add some more poems to your list. I do enjoy the two you have currently. ~Tyler Mason
