Self Destruction Poem by john mcleish

Self Destruction

Once I thought
a' hope was gone
everything lost
I stood alone

Life and death
a' the same
on a suicidal path
o' self destruction

That day I kneeled
before Christ and begged
fur one last chance
Fur forgiveness

Convulsion, fever
regurgitating the past
as I sweat in fear
this night, my last

The dawn came
the sun rose
and for the first time
I saw

Love
Light
te sink so low
te rise so high

He took my hand
and set me free
from the depths o' hell
came, liberty
