Self Love Poem by Valerian Mwenda

Self Love

Contrary to the code of popular moral etiquette
Self love is neither egocentrism nor selfishness
It’s rather just self love
For love is ultimately universal
Self love is the most empowering
And life-giving force under the sun
When you love yourself
Then you are truly free
You no longer harbour struggles in your life
Loneliness, relationship dramas
Heavy cloud of boredom, addictions
All this fly out of the window of time
Self love ushers in personal respect
And you rediscover your mind and body
Hence seeing yourself in new eyes
Self love exposes the radiance hidden in you
The capacity to give to your loved ones
Becomes manifest when happiness is your treasure
Self love and happiness are two walls of a ravine
Whereon flows the river of life
Complementing each other in a holy fashion
Self love harnesses the true power of intimacy
When you truly love yourself
You’ll never lack resources to offer others!
