Facing bankruptcy
The taste of chowder unchanged
Light of stars as well
No one understands our burdens, or feels them as we do. When we suffer, we expect a reaction from everything and everyone around us. To our eyes, the world has changed. It is our way of crying out for comfort and support. But we soon realize this is not the case, and we feel more alone than ever. Fortunate, indeed, is it to have someone to lean on when life tries to impair our balance. Your poem awakens us to the truth, perhaps a bit too effectively.
Yes, this is so true, that we feel the entire world has changed. It highlights our finite-ness, that even though only the aspects of reality that interface with our perceptions and actions actually impact us (an exceedingly small fraction of reality) , it sometimes seems that the whole universe is bearing down on us. Intriguing insight, Lora, and one that definitely brings extension to the contemplation of the universe as a relatively static constant in the shifting equations of our living. Both comforting─as you point out─and somewhat coldly disturbing in some senses. Anyway, great insight, Lora, and thanks again for the added perspective. Be blessed! Neal
