We have doubled the distance between us
Potholes of suspicion raze the road
The shuttle fares have improved
The arrival time, sustained
We have dug a ditch at the intersection
to bury our mutual goals
Severed the ties of trust
with shears of fear in faithless clips
We have built a fence with wild principles
as high as the hurt jabbing our hearts
Our sights are limited by the walls
erected to shut each other out
Ufan,
we have diverged from the destination of cohesion,
mortgaged our hopes of amity
We have become aliens to our bond
But we could
Fill the potholes, tar the track
Fill up the ditch, build us a bridge
Mow the fence, level the ground
So we would
Forge new frontiers
For our union (or find wings
for our freedom, no?)
For our fertile future's sake
We should.
