Shadows Poem by Blossom Mist

Shadows

Rating: 5.0

There are questions
Questions from my past
They come and haunt
Making silly faces they taunt

The mockery of my taste
For the decisions in haste
Like shadows they creep in murky corners
Finding ways adding to my horrors

Why did we ever meet, or did I greet
Why didn't I ever hear, shunned everyone near
I treaded on a road without an end
When I was told you and I could never blend

To be with you in vain
I tried ways both sane and insane
My follies got me pity and hate
That led to me being in a sordid state

Every day these shadows crept
They pounce on me when I slept
They keep growing in stealth and power
No matter where I hide or I cover

My heart knew there wasn't a resolve
I was in an abyss of no absolve
The shadows smirk at my lack of courage
They pity saying, it is how you will age

The day was dull and lifeless
The night became hard and restless
I knew I had shadows to defeat
Even if it meant I had to cheat

Like a blade the crescent shone
I crept myself and took a blade of my own
I gave a sly smile
Looked at the shadow directly in its eye

The blade slid in with a twist
Gaping the shadow looked at my wrist
As the blood flowed and mixed with water
I saw an end to all my horror
