Shape Shift Poem by Preston Napier

Shape Shift

Life has shaped shifted into an empty bowl of nothing
In a crowded room I hear nothing and see even less
The screams of my past pull at me and bite at my heals
My eyes have fallen short and the future has faded in them
Hope… There is no hope in me
The gnashing of teeth have torn my flesh from the bone
The whispers in the shadows are like loud screams to me
Pulling me further and further into the pit
The pit of depression
I awake covered in a cold sweat
The things I have laid my eyes upon have faded them
I no longer feel for man kind
I hate them
I only feel hate and anger
Life of an Officer
