Shatters Poem by Rebecca Pring

Shatters

Rating: 3.5

Fragile soul
You broke it
Without trying to
You shattered my core

You and me
Me and you
You promised the world
And now I'm alone

Left me here
With all the pieces
Shatters of me
My very being

Hurt so bad
I wanted the end
I tried to hate
And found that I can't

You love them
Love them more
More than me
I accept this all

But what hurts
Hurts the most
Is that you lied
You never told me the truth

We're trying
Trying so hard
We still smile
We smile and hold each other

Then I break
I break again
Need to release
But can't let you see that

I was led
Told a fantasy
Thought we were one
Now I am in pieces

I long for you
Long for what I cannot have
Relive the plans
Plans we had

We were planning
Planning a future
Before we became
This echo of ourselves

I'm alive
Barely alive
Trying to fix up
The shatters of myself

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

This is the common story of heartbreak for a woman particularly so. This is because of their beauty. A man will seldom tell a beautiful woman that it is over. The truth is, for him, it never began in the first place. Men are always falling in love with the fantasy. Its the fantasy they love, not her. Well done. GW62

sometimes life is like that...we fail to glue together the shattered pieces...that is powerfully brought out in your poem...
