She Poem by Nanette Elefante

She

I just stood still whenever you wave goodbye,
I was young then so no way to understand; why you always leaving me behind…
Grandma used to say, you’re far away to make a living…
To provide me with everything I need and better future to give;
Years gone by missing you lots, seeing you once a year won’t help much;

One day I found out, that my life might taken away from me…
I suffered painfully; don’t know how I will get away,
Does He really want to take me? Do I need to go away?

Now I understand the sacrifices you would do…
It’s not about being together what matters at times,
It’s the love and care that bind us as one…

I’m blessed you never left me, you fought and always fighting for me;
Once more a chance given, I’m now alive and kicking,
There are moments that makes me realize,
That no matter what, when and how; you won’t give up on me.

I'll keep in mind all you had taught me,
Though I apologize for some things I did and some ways I acted.
If not by you, my life's been fragile; and I don’t have the strength to live;
I thank you for all I’ve learned; that life’s consequences can be solved;
Those things’ happening for reasons, experiences even it is right or wrong.

Now that you needed me, I’ll shield you from the ache,
I swear I will be here no matter what it leads,
I will love you no less than what I can give.
Till the dawn comes, I’ll embrace you with my arms.

I’m happy that you are now glowing.
Our faith is strong enough that God’s provide us with everything,
You are the perfect woman in my life.
You’re my life, Mama…
