She Does Not Belong To You Poem by Francis Duggan

She Does Not Belong To You

No you are not that special not one of the chosen few
And the woman that you married she does not belong to you
And each an individual though you do not see it that way
For you think that you own her just going by what you say.

You do seem so possessive I do pity your wife
For with you she must lead a very restricted life
Or does she see in your weakness the strength of the strong?
But if such is the case she has got it all wrong.

Your marriage by your jealousy you may well destroy
You want to punch every fellow in the mouth who to her says hi
Though financially well off you are spiritually poor
And about your own sense of self you feel so insecure.

If she is a wise person of your ways she will despair
And one day when you go home from work you may not find her there
Of a jealous and possessive husband only so much a wife can bear
And one day she will leave you for to go and live elsewhere.

Wisdom as such by your type it never will be known
And she does not belong to you her you do not own
And your illusion of your ownership of her you yourself only create
For a jealous husband he can never become a soul mate.
