She Kept Waiting.... Poem by Chinthamani Nair

Day has departed, giving way to the night,
No end for her ordeal in sight.
Everyday she prepared his favourite dishes,
Kept on waiting for the moment he arrives.
She never went out, always remained at home,
To make herself available for his welcome.
Days have gone, months have passed,
Her routine remained unchanged.
Every time she asked he kept telling..
'I will come', and she kept waiting..
Waiting.. waiting..until the final day..
The fate forced her to say good bye.
