She's Gone Poem by Gary Winkel

She's Gone

I searched for a smile
amidst the ashes of silence
picking up the debris
from under a fiery eye
melting an easy flow
through subtle passages.

Stormy and dream squeezing
without atmospheres
filling up the room
with smoky brooding. Sailing
on a heartbreak spaceship
swollen and alone again.

Sitting on the edge
of her unmade bed
like an existential ruin.
She's gone over the walls.
Slay the dragon in your head.
Find the door that smiles dancing.

(1970's)
