It’s not like she tries,
She does the opposite.
Trying to convince them,
She knows how it goes.
She tries to warn them,
She knows how it goes,
They should stay away.
When they resist,
She’ll admit,
She’s glad.
She likes them
But she tells them,
All her faults,
They bat them off like they are
Nonexistent.

When they try to convince her,
They are different,
They call her beautiful.
They tell her they won’t
Hurt her,
She won’t get hurt again.
They say they are in love with her.

She knows it’s a lie,
She’s heard it
A thousand times,
Maybe it’s true,
But she’ll never fall in love.
As she watches her friends,
And the guys she’s with,
She starts to realize
She’ll never be in love.
She’ll go from guy to guy,
Until she thinks
Maybe this is the one.
Then she’ll start again,
The picture of love returned,
But once they tell her
She’ll back away,
Knowing she won’t feel the same.
