She Said Poem by Matthew John Aben

She Said

Rating: 4.5

'and the overcast will never clear'
I heard her say
with eyes fixated on the dark
'the rain will poor, and still some more
but these clouds are here to stay'
and 'well' i mumble 'everyone is numbered,
where today is only one past yesterday.
and well these clouds, they're here to stay'

with nothing to do
I watch her move her finger over her hand
tracing each line, every bit of dry skin
transfixed-
as if they where the vain to her existence.
her hand showing her life line
showing her pain
and it makes it hard to say.
but imagine your world being filled with gray

and even now, I can remember
that to this day the overcast never went away-
at least not for her.
because there was no one there,
no one to show her their hand
all she needed was to feel the same
to know some one else shared her pain

so with no words to say,
and our feeling pushed aside
we lay back to connect the dots in a starless night
and I cant help but feel her slipping away-
I cant help but feel myself turning away-

'and the overcast will never clear'
fixated on singularities,
the only tormenter, within.
its clear by the way her
hair falls across her face
that she has kaleidoscope eyes-
now like the puddle she stands in, filled with her tears.

and its clear to me
the overcast will never clear
and the clouds are here to stay
but try to look at a girl with kaleidoscope eyes-
a world filled with gray.
and have to say
'the rain is here to stay'
the rain is here to stay

I enjoyed this poem very much Matthew, it has a great flow and good connections all the way through. A thoroughly good read. I shall read some more.
