She Told Me Poem by Francis Duggan

She Told Me

She told me you have said all you have to say
Perhaps it is time you put your pen away
For every poetaster there is a last rhyme
And maybe for you too it is about time
That from penning of stuff you took your long rest
And though to give you your due you did give of your best
And you have penned one might say a lot of stuff
Your best sad for you it is not good enough,
I said i hear you but i cannot heed your advice
Since I'm addicted to rhyme i do not have a choice
But keep on penning stuff for as long as i can
For after all i am an addictive man
And though my better days are forever gone
To appease my addiction i must keep penning on.
