She Was Dead Poem by Charlie Sharp

She Was Dead

When she was 6

She used to eat everything

She could never get enough

And she would cry and beg for more

Even if she wasn’t even hungry anymore

Just the smell of food made her flip

Cause it smelled so good

And she wanted it all

When she turned 10

She still ate everything

All the other kids teased her

They said she was fat

And she would come home crying

Begging for them to stop

But the smell of the food

Her mother had cooked was so good

She forgot about the bullies for a second

And she ate it all

But then she turned 12

And all the girls in her class had boyfriends

But all the guys thought she was disgusting

They thought she was fat

And she knew they were right

When she came home

The food was on the table

And for the first time in her life

She decided not to eat

And she didn’t

When she was 15

People gave her compliments on her body

She even had her first boyfriend

Her mother was getting concerned

Cause she never touched the food she cooked

But she still thought about the little girl she used to be

That ate everything

And she figured she still was that girl

But what she and all the others didn’t know

She wasn’t that girl anymore

When she was 16

She rarely ate anything

She kept losing weight

And all the people started teasing her again

They thought she was too thin

And her mother cried all of the time

Cause she didn’t recognize her little girl anymore

Everybody told her to eat

But she couldn’t

She never wanted to be that little girl again

When she was 17

All the power was drained from her

Everybody thought she was a freak

They said she was a freak for never eating

And she knew they were right

But she couldn’t stop

And one day

She just fell

She fell and never stood up

She was dead.
