She Was Here Far And Wide For A Mission

She Was Here Far and Wide for a Mission

"The dove found no place to set her foot, […] so he put out
his hand and took her and brought her into the ark with him."
— Genesis 8: 9

She was here far and wide for a mission
A mission of hope, strength, and inspiration
For which she outstripped black bearded vultures
In the sky strewn with their bloody ruptures;
Her mournful cooing soothed the air from ravens'
Shrill cawing while scissoring the bloated flotsams
Tossed by the torrent seas of greed and lust
Drowning the land of distrust, land of disgust;
Her soft wing tips were such a sweet solace
To the weeping black and blue empty space
By red owls' talons of terror torn apart
That with beaks sharp as ever would restart.
A dove of her own feather now had to rest,
For tomorrow she would renew her quest.
