    This is a beautiful, beautiful poem. I first read Sherwood in my primary school in about 1955. Some of the verses had stuck in my mind and I had not read the poem since until very recently when I found it on the Internet. It was quite magical and even better than I remembered. Yes, the years certainly did roll away for me!
    This ought to be England's national poem and read aloud on St Geore's day in it's entirity!

Poem of the Day

poet Algernon Charles Swinburne

I hid my heart in a nest of roses,
Out of the sun's way, hidden apart;
In a softer bed than the soft white snow's is,
Under the roses I hid my heart.
