Shoes Poem by Poet Of Perception

Shoes

A pair of new shoes is what I need
to run this race so big
for I have to tread on many paths
some explored by all
some explored by few
and others by none at all.

A pair of new of shoes is what i need
as the old ones have been weared and teared
and can carry the burden of my feet nowhere
and if I do run in these, the pebbles
shall surely pierce my feet.

A pair of new shoes is what i need
for I have to run a mile
not stopping once to catch my breath
for I cannot let anyone from behind
take the place where all the glories for me await.

A pair of new shoes is what I need
as that is the necessity of the time
and i shall but put my feet
in the new shoes that await me
but in the old rusted wear
is where my footprints shall always be.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem metaphorically compares accepting of new ideas and thoughts as wearing of new shoes, just as new and good shoes are important to win a race, in the same way acceptance of new ideas are necessary to win in the race of life
