Shores Of Heartbreak: Releasing Unrequited Love Poem by Lily Ives

Shores Of Heartbreak: Releasing Unrequited Love

The waves crash against the shore,
A symphony of heartbreak.
For I have loved a handsome man,
With chiseled jaw and golden eyes,
But his love for me did not rise.

The ocean stretches out before me,
A vast and endless blue before the lush sand dunes.
But my heart feels small and lost,
As a single drop of dew.

I walk the shore, my feet sinking deep,
In the sand that holds shards of my broken dreams.
The white lighthouse atop the hill,
A beacon for my fears.

For in its light, I see a love,
That was not meant for me.
And though my heart is aching now,
I know I have to set it free.

So I release this love I hold,
To the waves and the horizon.
For true love may yet come to me,
But only if I dare to sink in this turbulent sea.

And as the lighthouse guides the ships,
Through the dark and stormy night,
I'll trust that love will guide me too,
To a brighter, truer light.
