Shout Loud Enough Poem by Cardel Hunte

Shout Loud Enough

If you shout loud enough
They'll hear you
They'll finally look down and see you,
If they could only see how long and hard you've been trying
To awaken that 'THing' inside of you
that 'THing' you never believed to have had from the very start
that 'THing' that separates you from 'them'
And that separates weak from strong,
If you shout loud enough
They'll hear you
And finally drop the weapons that once pierced you
They were confident that they had you, in the palm of their hands
Where they tried to smash you
to broken bones, broken dreams and a broken soul
A broken identity, they thought
and for a second they heard the chiming of their own victory
Flawless, and satisfactory,
But
that 'THing' you found
would turn the tides and
Put to shame the pain
Then resurrect purpose
Shout loud enough and
They'll look up to what seemed like a dead flame
Rise right before their eyes
Burning, brilliantly bright
Because he looked deep within and past all the scars and pain
and found his voice.
