Shreds Poem by Shruti Goswami

Shreds

When I shredded all my dreams
To the point they were but a
Speck of dust,
You came to enquire
About their colours.

Were they black and white?
Or a rainbow that glistens
Amidst the weeping skies?

And all the advice
That I no longer need,
Keep pouring in
Incessantly,
Without a rainbow in sight.

You can't escape,
From the myriad of realities
By drowning in idle dreams;
Or by showing affection
That you never really mean.

I still do cry at night for the
Way you abandon me
Time and again,
I do not care anymore
To quarrel or make peace
To lessen the pain.
