Sickness. Poem by Driss Ezzireg

Sickness.

Rating: 5.0

Sickness insists on being my guest
No matter how much resistance I invest.
The lonesome road is so long and so weary
The days go slow and slower the nights and dreary.
The birds that once sang melodious songs
Have now gone strangely silent and gangs
Of distress have now chosen my body
For mistress.
Sickness is now friend and foe.
I fear it and should love it, though.
Closer to eternity she carries me
For no cost as she is now truly
My host!
