Side By Side Poem by Steven S. Walsky

I noticed one of the flowers was wilted
a carnation
from the cluster of pink
odd how one bunch is full of life
and one is passing away so quickly

People, like flowers, can be side by side
one smiling
while the other looks away
regardless, the camera flashes
now we have a picture of disparity

Last night the rain finally arrived
large drops
the window a drum
calling to the carnations inside
too late for the one that wilted
