Silence Poem by drishti magoo

Silence

Rating: 3.5

I know your silence,
I know your dismay,
You steal away glances,
Though bitter, I know your say.

My days don’t get over,
Dark nights, for long they stay,
I wait for your arrival,
But, you seem to go astray.

You recede your steps,
My heart goes low,
Your smile seems to crop,
My heart! Twice it throbs!

‘Don’t go away! ’
it yells and cries,
I try really hard,
But, I fail to pacify.

How do I mend it?
Innocent heart is so difficult to slay!
‘Just for once look back! ’
To thee... I pray.

A finely structured poem. Drishti has created a wonderful mood through subtle choice of language. The first stanza is very impressive with remarkable brevity and a word choice that generates an 'exquisite ambiguity'- neither an overstated emotional tone nor a flat, subdued tone. The last stanza is too wordy and can be revised to fit the tenor of the opening stanza.Well done Drishti! .
