Silent Pleas Poem by Ronesha McLeod

Silent Pleas

The pain i felt is gone now
but in it's wake it's left
scars and numbness
and memories that will not be erased
but the numbness wraps around me like a
warm blanket, shielding me from the cold

My words are silent shadows in the night
not heard or seen by those unseeing eyes
and deaf ears
I feel as if people watch me with cold eyes

My heart beats a sad song
my eyes bleed tears
my battered body seeks comfort
my soul begs for mercy
while a voice deep inside me cries for help
