Silly Sonnet Poem by Elia Michael

Silly Sonnet

I walked along the narrow path and saw
A snail which crept along in measured stride
So slow, so sure, it could not be denied
I stopped to watch with interest and awe
Along came a cat extending its paw
It knocked the snail with glee so far and wide
That I began to fear that it had died
I told the cat to leave. You must withdraw!
It stood its ground and looked at me with hate
Such hate I feared it would attempt to scratch
My eyes and blindness would then be my fate
But I began to think it could not match
My fighting prowess. Go away lightweight,
Or I will throw you to the cabbage patch!
