Simple Joy Poem by Kevin Patrick

Simple Joy

Rating: 5.0

Start the pages for the day’s new stages
In search of a new adventure
Skip over cracks on the path of sidewalks
Or catch rainbows after grey showers
Hang out with a clown or a hero or two
And avoid villains dressed in stuffed shirts
Tune out the noise of your life as it is
And paint your blues in orange and yellow
There’s no need to make debts
To a lifetime of regrets
If you remember the times
When you were young as a lime
And the world had fairies
Beneath the garden
But you don’t need to see
A fairy to believe

This world is still filled
with strange wonder

Splash in the grass of eiderdown green
Look up to the sky of a thousand delights
Gossamer sailboats and water ship airplanes
Meet in the clouds where castles meet
You don't need the lure of the huckster piper
See through the green of yesterday’s dream
And Find the genie in every moment
Look at the stars as fireflies
Find a universe in an attic
Put the oceans into a jar
And sweep the deserts into one sandbox
Peer through the window of your life
Enjoy it all while you still have sight

Now see it all as one big film
You never knew… until the end
