Sin From The Depths Poem by Dakota Ellerton

Sin From The Depths

In the depths of my heart,
I hold secrets like any other.
Embarassing things, shameful things.
I hold strong the calm look on my face,
but past the mask,
tears are shed.
I have wept so many times,
for the fate of my fathers.
For my mothers pain,
and my sisters hardships.
For the troubles of my friends,
and the sorrows they have felt.
I can't inspire you to live,
I can't hardly keep my own will.
If I were to hold your heart,
surely I'd devour it.
Licking the blood from my fingers,
with a sinful smile creeping over my face.
It's as if such a brutal creature were controlling me.
Whispering sweet lies in my ears.
Maybe I created this shadow,
to over look my pain and hate.
To deal with the suffering inflicted on me,
and control how I react.
I've put my life into the hands,
of a beast with no regret.
