Sincerity's Fleeting Flash Poem by Richard Phipps

Sincerity's Fleeting Flash

Tapestry of devotion, woven tightly to a single link.
Artistry of emotions, blended chorus, so distinct.
Fleeting flash. Forces running, risking on instinct.
Don't turn away quickly. Sincerity fades with just a blink.

Saw that tear in your eye.
Heard the sigh in your goodbye.
Nothing I could do.
Helpless feeling, difficult to get by.

Felt the loneliness in your wake.
Saw the hurt in your walk, blank stare into space.
Knowing I couldn't relieve the pain, with soft touch or embrace.

The spokes of time don't divine,
lines of rhyme can't define,
sieve of truth won't refine -
the words I need to say.

It's been yours to give and take.
To pass night after night in never-ending ache.
Hours upon hours tossing, turning, sleeping wide-awake.
Reeling in feelings others readily forsake.

Can't you see? It really isn't me.
It's you and what you saw and what you see,
It's you and how you did and how you do,
that lends the feel, unending appeal,
makes life such a steal, succinctly seals the deal.

So on this occasion of my awakening,
the reasoned resolution of my faking.
For the many times I left your heart breaking,
and stole away the essence of your making...

There must be another time, another place,
to relieve the pain, with soft touch and embrace.
