Skin Poem by Star Sherwood

Skin

I am a complex person
Buried deep within my bones
Too deep for most to find
Few have seen me
Few ever will
But look past my skin
And you will see me
For my true spirit
Rests not upon my face
Covered in sweet kisses
Broken bones and bruises
Scar upon scar
Memory upon memory
Dirty, worn, and battered
But my soul is
Clean, pure, and beautiful
Look beyond my ugly surface
And there you will find
Me
For who I really am
