Slaughterhouse Of The Angels-Sakis Athanasiadis(Translation: Eva Johanos)

I wanted to tell you how I lost your mirror
and I do not see your eyes when night falls
nor do I any longer gather stars to give you
since you do not need light from my hands
I wanted to tell you how I forgot
the names from your sea
perhaps because running from the rough voices of the streets
I loved the breath of the night
however, I have filled my memory with shadows that dance
shadows that resemble sellers of sand more than gods
and which wrestle tirelessly among themselves
which one will guide me to immortality
However, I remember the sun in Oia
that you pushed with your eyes into the sea
so that the tourist with their cameras would leave
so you could hear my silence in a glass of wine
so you could the fear of the fire in the evening rain
However, I remember your red hair
the tears of the trees that you stole at dawn
to take them with you
to paint the summer on the walls
but I have forgotten whether I was shipwrecked on your island
or whether you were shipwrecked on the island of my embrace
neither do I remember the waves from your sea
nor whether you were once a sea
in the slaughterhouse of the angels of Kypselis
