Sleep Now, My Love Poem by Maureen Carey

Sleep Now, My Love

Rating: 2.5

Sleep now, my love, so fair and young. Rest your sweet head under the lilac trees where their fragrant aroma infuses my soul with Light.

Peaceful now is the world, wrapped in Diana's restful cloak. The stars hang overhead like graceful, silent lanterns lighting our path.

Peaceful now are you, dreaming of sun and flowers. In your eyes is the promise of a new day.

You were made in the early morning, created from sunlight and dew. Rainbows dance in your eyes, your voice like the babbling brook as it swiftly rushes past.

Promise me, sweet one, that when you dream, you'll dream only of me, as I of you.

You are the light in my window, the new dawn, the sunrise.

The day is done, the birdsong still. A peaceful calm everywhere.

May your sleep be restful and God grant you peace.

My love for you runs as deep as the mystery of life, as wide as the ocean and as still as a winter's night.

Sleep now serenely, O you of matchless beauty, and when morning breaks forth, I shall follow you throughout the world.
