Slipping Away Poem by Bruce Melhorn

Slipping Away

As I lay in my bed, head heavy like lead
I start to slip away, but instead
I'm awoken with dread
My room is hosting the dead
I cannot move not even motion my head
I hear a thousand whispers but can't tell you what one of them said.
My voice is stuck in my neck
Gravity left, feel my soul exiting breath
will I meet my reckoning next?
As quick as it came, it had left
Insane or a dream?
It's any ones guess
I pray a lot more
and stray a lot less
