Slipping Away From Sanity Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Slipping Away From Sanity

Have we...
Seekers of truth.
And believers of humanity.
Losing a battle being fought,
Against consciousness.
A consciousness slipping away,
From sanity and its reality.
Have we?

Such a craze has been unleashed.
Increasingly released,
By those who worship idols and symbols.
Lawlessly ruining,
A fast erosion of life and its quality.
Allowed and followed with incredible speed.
And incompetently endorsed,
As if hypnotized and orchestrated to be led...
Into a cesspool by one enjoying the fumes.
